Charles W. Bobinette

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that Charles “Chuck” Whitney Bobinette, beloved husband, devoted friend, Attorney at Law and former St. Louis City Municipal Court Judge, passed away on Monday July 25, 2016. 
 
With characteristic enthusiasm and tenacity, Chuck continued in his mission of serving his clients all the way through June 2016 when the effects of chemotherapy and the cancer itself became physically overpowering.  At the end, he was surrounded by his wife Deborah, his loving family, coworkers and close friends.

Chuck was an extraordinary attorney who brought joy and insight to all who knew him.
 
Up until his last moments, Chuck was positive about life, and continued to display concern for family and friends, groups of which he considered his clients to be members.  While ill, he staffed cases with other attorneys in the Firm to ensure his clients received the best representation possible.   
 
Chuck was an inspiration to us all at Uthoff, Graeber, Bobinette and Blanke.
 
Chuck moved from his hometown of Chicago to attend Denison University in Ohio, then Saint Louis University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1971.  Chuck first practiced as a managing attorney for the Legal Aid Society of St. Louis, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free quality legal assistance to low-income families. It strives to strengthen families, build the community, and secure justice for disadvantaged clients. Since 1981 Chuck practiced as a partner at this Firm, where his civil trial and appellate practice focused on employment and business litigation, as well as in areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation. He utilized his legal expertise and passion for zealous representation to assist countless people in venues including both the Missouri Supreme Court and U.S. Supreme Court.

While practicing, Chuck served as an adjunct Professor at Saint Louis University School of Law and later as an Adjunct Professor and Judicial Clerkship leader at Washington University School of Law.  His civic work included board service as Secretary of the City of St. Louis CASA.  He was also dedicated to the Crusade Against Crime which awards its Medal of Valor in recognition of conspicuous acts of bravery exceeding the normal demands of police service. Chuck served as a Crusade’s board member for 28 years and as its president from 1998-2002. 
 Notwithstanding Chuck’s legal and civic successes, he will be best remembered as a treasured friend and family man.  He was beloved most by his wife Deborah (nee Lord). Together the two shared 40 years of partnership as best friends.

We are committed to honoring Chuck’s legacy. 

Chuck was a zealous advocate who worked tirelessly on his clients’ behalf.  For his entire legal career, Chuck worked virtually 10 hours per day, and 6 or 7 days per week.  He left no stone unturned when briefing or presenting his clients’ cases. All the time, Chuck was well regarded for his integrity, professionalism and candor with Judges, opposing counsel – and his clients.  These characteristics coupled with his legal knowledge gained from education and decades of experience resulted in significant success for him and his clients.

Chuck will be sorely missed. 

As our firm moves forward without Chuck, we pledge to deliver legal services of the highest standard and in the positive spirit exemplified by our friend and colleague, Charles Bobinette.
